to speak at UNLV Renewable Energy Symposium August 11
WHAT: Longtime Nevada utility and energy attorney Kathleen Drakulich will be a featured speaker at 2009 UNLV Renewable Energy Symposium in Las Vegas on August 11, presenting on the “Changes in the Renewable Energy Landscape in Nevada” resulting from implementation of the renewable portfolio standard and the 2009 legislative session.
Now in its third year, the annual two-day event focuses on renewable energy production in Nevada, the Southwestern U.S., and renewable research projects nationwide. It provides an opportunity for members of the renewable energy industry to collaborate with others in the field and exchange information. Over 230 individuals attended the event last year.
WHO: With more than 17 years experience in the energy and public utility industry, Kathleen Drakulich is a Partner in the Reno office of McDonald Carano Wilson and a member of its statewide Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Practice Group.
Drakulich has served as assistant general counsel for Nevada’s largest electric providers and as private counsel for Nevada’s largest energy users, representing them in rate case and integrated resource plan applications, environmental permitting, purchase power agreement and line extension proceedings, renewable energy initiatives and other regulatory matters. She served as legislative counsel for the utilities during numerous sessions of the Nevada Legislature.
In private practice, Drakulich has represented local, national and international energy and public utility firms in procurement matters, supply and purchase contract negotiations, as well as permitting and construction of renewable energy and fossil fuel facilities. She has also represented entities in Nevada seeking permits from local, state and federal governmental agencies.
Drakulich was appointed to Senator Harry Reid’s Renewable Energy Blue Ribbon Panel in 2008.
