McDonald Carano Wilson LLP Welcomes New Partner, Kathleen Drakulich
LAS VEGAS – McDonald Carano Wilson LLP Managing Partner John Frankovich announced today that Kathleen Drakulich has recently been named a partner in the Firm. She joins the Firm’s Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Practice Group.
Prior to joining McDonald Carano Wilson, Drakulich served as a partner at Kummer, Kaempfer, Bonner, Renshaw & Ferrario. With more than 15 years experience in the energy and public utility industry, she previously served as assistant general counsel for Sierra Pacific Power Company and Nevada Power Company (now NV Energy) and served as their legislative counsel during numerous sessions of the Nevada Legislature.
In private practice, Drakulich has represented local, national and international energy and public utility firms in procurement matters, supply and purchase contract negotiations, as well as permitting and construction of renewable energy and fossil fuel facilities. She also represents some of Nevada’s largest energy users in rate case applications, environmental permitting and line extension proceedings, renewable energy initiatives and other regulatory matters.
“The Firm welcomes Kathleen and her widely respected experience in the fields of public utility law and renewable energy,” Frankovich said. “She is an excellent addition to the energy practice group, which serves clients in traditional energy generation matters, as well as Nevada’s growing involvement in renewable energy development.”
Named as one of “The Best Lawyers in America” in 2008 and 2009, Drakulich was appointed to Senator Harry Reid’s Renewable Energy Blue Ribbon Panel in 2008. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in 1986. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada and the Eastern District of California.
Drakulich is a member of the Nevada, Clark County and Washoe County Bar Associations, the American Trial Lawyers Association and the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association. She is also a member of the board of directors for Nevada-based, not-for-profit healthcare organization Renown Health, where she serves on the audit and finance committees.
A statewide firm, McDonald Carano Wilson LLP was established in 1949 by former United States Senator Alan Bible and Robert L. McDonald. The firm has offices in Reno and Las Vegas, with more than 50 lawyers statewide. The firm offers a wide range of legal services in the areas of complex litigation, business entities and governance, commercial transactions, securities, bankruptcy, gaming, tax, probate, estate planning, energy, environmental and natural resources, real property, construction, labor and employment, intellectual property and governmental relations.
